BUDLEIGH Salterton skipper Joel Murphy wants to see an improvement from his side when they visit Barton.
The Otters slumped to a six-wicket defeat against visiting Cornwood last Saturday after being bowled out for 97.
It was Budleigh’s third defeat in a row and leaves them 29 points behind second-placed Cornwood in the promotion race.
The situation remains retrievable, but not if Budleigh keep losing.
“For the third week running we have been completely outplayed and that is not acceptable, said Murphy.
“You can accept losing to a better side if you have played well, but it cannot carry on like that all the time.
“Matt Butterworth (4-22) for Cornwood bowled really well and is much improved from the last time I saw him.
“We really need to stand up and be counted in our next few games, otherwise our season is just going to peter out.”
BRADNINCH entertain Sandford in the mid-Devon derby up to fourth in the table following their win at Tavistock.
The Kensham Park outfit have come good after a quiet first month to the season and sit 35 points behind second-placed Cornwood.
Ross Acton and Dan Hardy both made centuries in a stand of 186 for the second wicket as Bradninch made 384 for four.
Tavistock replied with 238 for nine with Acton taking four for 33 and Charlie Walker three for 23.
Sandford bounced back from their defeat by Hatherleigh to beat Lewdown last time out and are one place and 13 points behind their local rivals.
“Bradninch are on a good run of form so we will need to be switched on from ball one,” said Sandford skipper Jamie Palmer.
“Other than the Hatherleigh blip a fortnight ago, our form has been good recently. So I am expecting a good game.”
Bradninch welcome back batter Chris Metters (pictured) after a holiday but lose spinner Will Squire for the same reason. Will Greig may be back after injury.
Sandford welcome back Russ Discombe up top and Brian Leach in the bowling attack. Steve Morish (holiday) and spinner Gary Abdol (2nd XI) are absent.
Elsewhere in the A Division, Bideford will be aiming to make it three wins in a row when they visit Cornwood.
Hatherleigh face Tavistock in a west Devon derby and Lewdown entertain leaders Brixham.
