BEN Green’s breathtaking season with bat and ball has continued today with a hat-trick for England U19s.
Green (left) took three in a row against the Unicorns in a two-day game at Loughborough.
England made 247 all out in their first innings – Exeter all-rounder Green stroking 30 off 59 balls.
The Unicorns – a representative team drawn from Minor Counties and Premier League cricketers – were all out for 134 in their first innings.
Green’s hat-trick scalps were Chris Whitlock, Jack Grundy and Graham Onions, the former England seamer who is coaching England U19s in the build up to the series against Australia.
Green didn’t stop at a hat-trick either! He accounted for James Hunt and Shozair Ali on his way to match figures of five wickets for three runs in 3.4 overs. He took all the last five wickets to fall after coming into the attack at 100 for six.
It has been quite a summer for Green who if he isn’t skittling sides out is piling up the runs.
The first of his two centuries for Devon was a record breaker. He became the county club’s youngest centurion at age 17 years and 267 days, breaking Matt Thompson’s previous record of 18 years 204 days by 10 months.
Green has also clocked his first century for Somerset 2nd XI.
