ABBOTSKERSWELL remain bottom of the B Division table after a two-wicket defeat at Braunton.
Abbots were all out for 127 and will be disappointed not to have done better after being 83 for two.
Mawgan Penrice (27) and Charlie Mitchell (36) put on 67 for the third wicket after two early strikes by Braunton.
The last eight wickets went for 45 runs, shared between Alex Hodges, Dan Brierley, Matt Smith and Callum Mitchell with two each.
Knocking off the runs was anything but easy for Braunton, who were dogged by Hugo Whitlock (3-23), Tom Andrews (2-24) and Matt Beasant (2-35).
Fifteen for three was worrying – and with Ian Roberts retired hurt in that total it was worse than it seemed.
Callum Mitchell (33) and Tom Robotham (52) made a dent in the total, but when they went wickets started to fall again.
With two runs needed and eight wickets down skipper Roberts returned and with Gary Brooks (15no) at the other end Braunton got over the line.
Victory took Braunton two places up the table, ahead of South Devon and out of the bottom three.
Penrice said with only 15 points between the bottom four – three of whom will go down – there is everything to play for.
“If we go well in our last few games and some other results go our way then we will stay up,” said Penrice.
“We just have to give it our all till the end.”
