SANDFORD were on the receiving end of a double hundred when they ran into champions in waiting Brixham and lost by 77 runs.
Edgar, who took 118 off Bradninch seven days earlier, kept going to reach 209 not out in a Brixham total of 333 for four.
Tim Robinson (37) and Edgar opened up with 93 for the first wicket, them Matt McGillivray (39) helped Edgar add 125 for the second.
Edgar’s total was a new record for the A Division, easily passing the 185 scored by Martin Gear for North Devon against Tavistock in 2005.
It was also a new club record for Brixham. Current captain Andy Pugh set the old club record of 183 not out against Plymouth Civil Service in 1994.
Bowling-wise, Charlie Fitzroy (2-39) had the most success. Russ Discombe (1-29) was respectable, Tom Williams (1-54) suffered a bit and Prince Masvuare (1-82) took a bit of tap.
Sandford replied with 256 for nine, which is more than they looked like getting at 149 for six.
Masvuare (65) and Matt Theedom (33) had been and gone, which left Fitzroy and Sean Hawkins holding the fort.
Fitzroy made 56 and Hawkins 48 in a stand of 102 for the seventh wicket, which got Sandford close to their eventual total of 256 for nine.
Jamie Palmer, the Sandford skipper, said a sharper performance in the field may have made a difference to the result.
“I felt we were a bit lacklustre early on in our fielding and bowled too many four balls which let them get away,” said Palmer.
“Dropping Edgar twice - both fairly straightforward catches - helped them to 335 and that was always going to be a tough ask.
“I was pleased for Shaun Hawkins and Charlie Fitzroy as they both batted well and scored confidence-boosting runs
