Eight on the trot now for Thorverton

THORVERTON’S promotion hopes go on the line this Saturday when they visit Chudleigh in a top-of-the-table clash.

Thors made it eight wins on the reel last time out when they routed Braunton by 10 wickets.

In the log jam at the top of the table, Chudleigh (243pts) are the leaders followed by Plymstock (225) then Thorverton (217).

Chudleigh’s last two games are Thorverton followed by Plymstock on the final day.

Plymstock visit lowly Axminster this Saturday fresh from beating South Devon.

Thorverton’s final game is a derby date with Shobrooke Park, who are probably out of it themselves now but will want to spoil their big rivals’ plans if they can.

Two wins may not be enough for Thorverton, but anything less will almost certainly undo them.

“Chudleigh is a big game for us and one we have to win,” said skipper Graham White. “If we keep winning we should go up.”

Braunton, waging their now annual fight against relegation, were skittled out for 57 Jake Crouch (5-11) and Kobi Griggs (2-12).

Crouch performed his first senior hat-trick on his way to five wicket, nipping out Callum Mitchell, Martin Tovey and top scorer Alex Hodges (15) to complete it.

Thorverton needed just 12 overs to complete the demolition job.

Paul Fielder was 32 not out and George Greed unbeaten on 22.
