Filleigh’s Mark Prideaux clubbing four more runs on his way to 601 for the season
FILLEIGH celebrated their great escape from relegation at their end-of-season dinner.
Filleigh were bottom of the C Division East table with four games to go and odds-on to go down.
Three of the last four games ended in victories – including a last-day win over Shaldon.
FIlleigh stayed up at the expense of Kentisbeare and Shaldon.
Skipper Simon Prideaux rounded up the season in a humorous speech after dinner, which was hosted by the Jack Russell Inn at Swimbridge.
When the awards were handed out there was one for Prideaux, whose knock of 162 against Kentisbeare was rated the best performance of the season by a 1st XI player.
Brother Mark won the batting prize for clocking 601 runs at an average of 42.93. Billy Rudolph of champions Ottery St Mary was the only batter to make more runs over the season.
Ryan Bowden with 23 wickets took the bowling award. He went on to complete an awards treble as fielder of the year and players’ player.
