Students win Shobrooke shoot-out to lift title

EXETER University (pictured) were crowned Exeter Indoor League champions with a winner-takes-all 11-run win over Shobrooke Park.
Shobrooke would have landed the top honour themselves had they won the match at the Devon Cricket Centre.
Shobrooke were happy limit their opponents to a slightly under-par 105.
It would have been a lot less without the 38 wides sent down by the bowlers!
Those extras proved crucial as the University were positively frugal, bowling only 13 in their 12 overs.
Man of many clubs Toby Codd with 29 not out tried to get Park over the line, but lacked support.
The University fielded superbly with Sam Harris taking two fine catches and saving certain boundaries.
The other top-flight game did not take place with Sandford, not for the first time this season, failing to field a side. Opponents Exeter banked 18 points.
In Division Two the meeting of Newton St Cyres and Countess Wear proved to be a classic with St Cyres winning by then narrowest of margins – a single run!
It was a wicket and just three runs conceded by Mike Johnson in the penultimate over of a thrilling contest that saw St Cyres to victory.
Cooke (43) and Andrew Cork (21) steered St Cyres to 124 all out.
The Countess Wear run chase was led by unbeaten knocks from Darren Rice (28), Rob Jones (26) and James Bovey (25).
The other game on the final night of league action saw champions Tiverton defeat a Countess Wear side that took sufficient points from the match to finish runners-up.
Dave Jarvis, with an unbeaten 40, and a knock of 37 not out from James Bovey saw Countess Wear to 110 for four.
Brendon Parr (36) and brother Jason Parr (33) were both unbeaten in the Tivvy chase.
