KIWI signing Taylor McLellan hit 60 and James Dark 80 not out as Ashburton stormed to a seven-wicket win in the derby date with Kingsbridge.
Kings piled up 241 for seven with opener James Westlake the anchorman.
Westlake’s 91 include a stand of 75 with Tom Bridgens (26). Alex Browne had 54.
Pick of the bowlers with three for 31 was Matt Coon.
McLellan, over here for a summer with his girlfriend, led the run-chase at first, getting Ashes up to 142 for three with help from Dark.
Dark, a former Blundell’s schoolboy now living in the area, batted through with Ashley Berry (36no) to win the game with a stand of exactly 100.
Ashburton are at home to leaders Bridestowe on Saturday.
Kingsbridge face a trick trip to Chagford, who won at home to Whitchurch last time out.
DARTINGTON got into the derby clash with Stoke Gabriel odds-on favourites after beating Plymouth CS&R by 58 runs to stay second in the table.
Noah Tobias was the man of the moment for D&T valuable contributions with bat and ball.
Tobias made 29 in a total of 142 all out, then took six for 16 as Civil were bowled out for 84.
Bridestowe continued their winning run with a 184 run victory away at Stoke-Gabriel.
Bridestowe batted first, and scored well from the start; 39 runs were on the board before Gary Sizmur was out lbw to Ansley.
Next came a mammoth 167 run partnership between Tom Fogerty and James Ewen.
Both left well outside off-stump, ran well, and climbed into anything under- or over-pitched.
When Ewen fell for 56 trying to up the run rate, a few wickets fell at the other end, with the new men also looking to find the boundary.
There were useful contributions from Phil Hatton (25) and Nazir Khan (36no) who, along with Fogerty (136), got the score up to an imposing 332-7 from 45 overs.
Stoke reached a respectable 112 for five in reply – Tolley (44) and Seb Ansley (29) making a share.
Tolley played some impressive strokes and, at one stage, it looked as though Stoke might be on track to make it a tense finish.
But when Lavis (3-51) removed Ansley (25) and Khan (2-24) bowled Tolley (44), the game was all but over.
Gary Sizmur finished with 4-42 as Stoke collapsed to 148 all out.
BABBACOMBE got back to business after their defeat by Dartington & Totnes with a seven-wicket stroll against Yelverton.
Cameron Fryer bagged six for 24 and Tim Goodwin two for 17 as the Moorland side were skittled for 82. Rob Grove made 29.
Nathan Beech (27) and Seb Powell (19) were the leading run getters in the briefest of chases.
Babbacombe are away to Whitchurch on Saturday.
CHAGFORD skipper Del Lammonby was in cheerful mood after his side beat Whitchurch by five wickets.
Three wins on the bounce have taken Chagford up to third in the table, where they are just a point behind Dartington & Totnes in second spot.
“We are rolling up the table – and haven’t finished yet,” said Lammonby.
Whitchurch made a respectable 246 for six with Kevin Jacobs top scoring on 98. He put on 181 for the first wicket with Ben Powell (77).
Not for the first time this season lad showed dad how to wickets with son Will Lammonby (3-42) going one better than Del (2-29).
Chagford got off to a patchy start and were 45 for three when Peter Holland went out to join Divan Marais.
A stand of 76 followed before Holland got out for 38,
The game was won and lost during a fifth-wicket partnership 115 between Marais and Duncan Manners-Chapman (27).
Manners-Chapman fell 10 runs short, leaving Marais to knock of the final few runs on his way to an unbeaten 140.
Chagford host Kingsbridge this Saturday.
