Exeter welcome back Sale for inter-city clash

EXETER, who have only won once in three starts, could get dragged down into the bottom two if they slip up against visiting Plymouth.

For Plymouth are the side immediately below them and can overtake Exeter if they win on the County Ground.

Miles Lenygon, the Exeter captain, has been unimpressed by the city side’s bowling in recent games.

On the defeat at Bovey Tracey last time out, Lenygon said: “On a not-very-good wicket we helped them get more than they should have done.

“No Bovey Tracey batsman dominated us – they reached 225 without anyone scoring a 50 – yet even under no pressure we were bowling four balls almost every over.”

Ollie Sale, who started the season well with the ball for Somerset 2nd XI, is home from university this Saturday and will give the attack a lift.

George Greenway is restored after a week in the 2nd XI to have a bat and bowl.

Tom Richardson is back after injury to bat in the early order for Exeter.

Rob Holman keeps wicket in the absence of Will Steward and Robin Fern, both of whom are unavailable.

Lenygon is looking for some subtle improvements this week.

“We need slightly more intensity and discipline when we're in the field,” said Lenygon.

“It's a very big game for us as with the league so open this year we need to start moving up that table and make sure by halfway we can still compete for the league.”

Plymouth are in a better pace after beating Plympton last Saturday, but are still in the bottom two.

“We are very much looking forward to this weekend after putting our first win on the board,” said skipper Sam Stein.

“Everyone played well as a team and backed each other up.

“We are now looking to get on a roll and build some momentum.

“Everyone will be giving their all to make sure we can secure another win.”

George Stephenson is unavailable so John Kerridge comes back in.
