LEWDOWN could be on the receiving end of a Barton backlash when the two sides meet at Cricketfield Road on Saturday.
For Barton are still smarting from the 23-run defeat at Budleigh in a game skipper Adam Parker felt was there to be won.
"We did really well to restrict them to 221 after the onslaught from (Cehphas) Zhuwao (88) and it was great to see our boys keep fighting and pushing on whilst some big hitting was taking place,” said Parker
“We still gave away too many extras, mainly wides, which doesn't make things easier.
“Batting was the real disappointment. Shaun Needham and Will Grainger got us off to a brilliant start and took their openers apart.
“At 90 for none we should have been able to see it home especially with Needham going on to get to 94, although he deserved a ton!
“Poor shot selection and lack of application was the downfall and our key focus moving forward into next week.
“All in all another strong performance which only lacked the killer instinct and that little bit extra to get us over the line.
“Looking forward though we are getting closer to the finished article.
Lewdown had a stack of regulars missing at Tavistock, some of whom skipper Harry Geering hopes to see back this weekend.
“Against a good side we did well to pick up five points and I couldn’t have asked any more of the players who came in.,” said skipper Harry Geering.
