Barton looking to start stringing wins together

BARTON skipper Adam Parker is hoping the four-wicket win over Lewdown has signalled a change in fortunes.

“It was a well-needed win for us after two disappointing weeks, hopefully we can build on it and build up some momentum,” said Parker, whose side face Bradninch tomorrow.

“We did well to get a positive result out of the game as we didn't get simple things right.

“We let them get off to a good start, but that was mainly down to the amount of extras we bowled again and not runs off the bat.

“Once again we did really well to pull it back with some good bowling and at one point it looked like we were going to bowl them out for 120.

“Their batters did well to take advantage of the power play and get 155.”

Having bowled out Lewdown for 155 in their 37th over – Tallan Burns (28) and Mark Jordan (21) the only scorers of note – Barton were reduced to 62 for six in reply.

Aqeel Ahmed and Adrian Hewings got Barton off the hook by putting on 96 unbroken to win the match.

“Out before tea and we got off to the worst start, mixture of good decent bowling and poor shot selection saw us hit 60 for six.

“Then Aqeel and Adie Hewings did brilliantly to start the fightback and made it look easy knocking the runs off by picking the right ball to put away and running well.

“A few of our batters need to take note…”

Bradninch will be without the injured Paul Nott against Barton, but have re-signed Tim Piper from Torquay.
