BOVEY Tracey will be anxious to avoid losing any ground in the title race when they meet North Devon in the battle of the chasers at Instow.
Bovey in second place are 10 points behind leaders Torquay and three in front of North Devon, who are third.
And with Torquay to play next, the last thing Bovey want is to lose any more ground,
North Devon will be on their guard against Bovey opener Malcolm Lake, who has made back-to-back Premier tons against Heathcoat and Plymouth.
Can Lake make it three tons? It’s only been done once before in the top flight since the league was formed in 1972. That was last season when Heathcoat’s Qassim Adams scored 126 against Exeter, 132 versus Cornwood and 122 in the match against Plymouth on three successive Saturday afternoons.
North Devon name a similar side to the one that beat Exeter last week other.
Matt Dart is unavailable due to a wedding, so Edd Yeo comes in back from injury. Devon paceman Jack Popham is away on a family holiday so Sam Witheridge gets an opportunity with the new ball after taking five wickets in the second team last week.
North Devon skipper Barney Huxtable isn’t just wary about Lake – he respects the rest of the team too.
“Bovey Tracey have struck a good run of form and have some key players who, if we allow them, could win them the game,” he said.
“Fortunately we have also struck some good form of late but will have to up our game again this week if we are to beat Bovey Tracey.”
