Plympton still looking for first league win

PLYMPTON’S search for a first Premier win of the season resumes when they visit Paignton.

Last Saturday’s loss to Exeter was the sixth in row for the top-flight returnees.

Paignton were promoted with Plympton and the Harewood House side’s recent record against them is encouraging, even if their current form isn’t.

“The lads were pretty disappointed after last weekend as we should have won,” said Plympton captain James Carr.

“We eventually batted well but let ourselves down in the field and with ball.

“Giving Exeter 20 wides plus 15 runs in misfields and overthrows - which doesn’t include the extra balls from the wides - gave them at least 40 runs and gave the match away!

“It was good to see us fighting though and we will go all the way till the end of the season.

“We beat Paignton twice last year. They are a good team and it will be tough at their place, but the lads are confident of coming out with a positive result.”

Missing are Chris Bunney, Ollie Mulberry (holiday) and Carr due to work.

In come Dom Mulberry, Fraser Smith and Owen Gannon.

Paignton skipper Connor Bryan feel’s Carr’s  pre-match confidence may be misplaced

:The lads have worked really hard on and off the pitch over the last couple of weeks,” said Bryan.

“I really do think this is a game where if we all perform as we have done in recent weeks then we can pick up the 20 points,

“It is a game we feel we are capable of winning and will go into it with great belief.”

Oliie Higgs comes back in at the top of the Paignton order.
