FORMER Budleigh Salterton and Devon paceman Charlie Morris has reached a landmark in First Class cricket by taking his 100th wicket.
Morris played for Budleigh between 2009-2012 and was with Devon for the last two years of his time at Ottermouth. Before joining Budleigh he was with Yelverton.
Worcestershire blooded Morris in the 2nd XI during 2012 and offered him a deal for the following season.
He was already figuring for Oxford MCCA in First Class fixtures and had wickets under his belt – including the first of the 2012 season in an cricket in the UK.
His First Class debut for Worcestershire was a against the touring Australians in 2013 –a wicketless affair for the vicar’s son.
Morris broke into the Worcestershire County Championship side the following summer, debuting against Hampshire, and he had two wickets on his debut.
Victim 100 was Nottinghamshire’s Samit Patel yesterday (Monday) in the game at Trent Bridge.
Morris got to a hundred First Class scalps before fellow ex-Devon players Lewis Gregory (97) and the Overtons (Craig 87, Jamie 59).
Co-incidentally, Morris’s 101st victim was Chris Read, the Notts captain and former Paignton and Devon keeper-batter.
