CORNWOOD take on Torquay well aware their win over Bradninch is only a step on the road to safety.
“The first team have been reminded that one 20-pointer does not guarantee safety,” said chairman of selectors Mike Hawkes.
“Skipper Jason Hall has been instilling the ethic that we need to fight for every point and that Cornwood remain well and truly in the relegation battle.
“Despite the challenge lying ahead, the mood within the team remains very positive, team spirit is high and the players are very upbeat for the visit of Torquay.”
The team will be without seamer Andy Bees for the next few weeks.
“His contribution this season has been important, as a first-change bowler who can bowl economic overs and put batsmen under pressure,” said Hawkes.
With Ryan Rickard and Matt Butterworth returning, Hall has other options open to him.
Torquay lost to Cornwood are their place earlier in the season, a defeat which still rankles with the Seasiders.
Having defeated title-chasing Bovey Tracey last time out, Torquay are entitled to feel optimistic about the rematch.
“We've been looking forward to this game ever since Cornwood taught us a lesson at The Rec earlier in the season,” said vice-captain Mat Thompson.
“That day they we paid the price for some lacklustre bowling and arrogance.... having beaten the league leaders last week we are determined to set the record straight on Saturday.
“Our top order is starting to fire with Des Kruger and Nick Watkin in particular looking good.
“The way we bowled last week showed we are a capable unit.
“Whilst we won't underestimate Cornwood we will go there quietly confident and looking to set the record straight.”
