After a very successful winter
programme the seventeens went outside and got very muddy! This year they are
being coached by Sandy Allen and it was his initiative that they should spend
some time together at the Ashcombe Adventure Centre. They started the day
building rafts with the aim of being involved in some raft racing. Despite
staying close to the SS Great Britain in Bristol last summer it was evident, early
in the piece, that there were no budding Isambard
Kingdom Brunel's! At least Captain Pyle's team mounted their vessel in
the lake. This was followed by a romp around the Gladiator Assault
Course where the team course record time is two
minutes. Neither group put this record under any undue pressure but hopefully
an enjoyable time was had despite some highly coiffure hair styles taking a pounding. The season proper starts with a friendly fixture against the West of England over May half term but if this is clue as to what their new coach is bringing to both the sixteens and seventeens they should be on their toes. |
