A Division - Top two meet with promotion at stake

HEATHCOAT could be promoted by tomorrow evening if they win the derby clash with Sandford.

The one-two-three at the top of the table is Heathcoat (246pts), Sandford (229) and Plympton (225) with 66 points to play for.

If Heathcoat win and Plympton lose at bottom side Braunton – unlikely but plausible – they will be on the way up.

Sandford know a defeat will plunge them into a battle royal with Plympton for the runners-up spot.

Plympton have quietly been gaining ground on Sandford in recent weeks in the style of dark horses.

Skipper Jeremy Williams sees every game as a threat from now on, even table-proppers Braunton.

“We need to concentrate away to Braunton, knowing if we do not play to the level we have been achieving over the past few weeks we could potentially come unstuck,” said Williams.

“Keen to keep the winning momentum going into the crucial last two games of the season.

“We have got a very challenging run in with both Paignton and Heathcoat to play.”Ross Farrer and David Wrench are unavailable so in come Alex Carr and Dom Mulberry.

Plymstock go to Brixham painfully aware it is coming up to drinking up time in the Last Chance Saloon.

Plymstock are second from bottom and have to find nine points somewhere to get ahead of Hatherleigh and stay there.

Plymstock are still irritated by the outcome of their game against Paignton last week, which was rained off when it could have gone either way,

“We were gutted we didn't get more than four points out of last week’s match,” said player spokesman George Barnicott.

“At 159-0 with a lot of overs left it just didn't seem fair, maybe it's something to be looked at over the winter.

“I'm not sure run rate is the fairest way to decide rain affected matches. But that's for a later time,

“We're focused on the next three games.  First up is Brixham this Saturday, the forecast is awful but we have to win, nothing else to say!'

The team is the same apart from Dan Robotham replacing Mike Blackmore

The big relegation battle with the Two Mike Oak meeting between Abbotskerswell and Hatherleigh.

Hatherleigh are two places off the bottom on 131points with Abbots four points and a place ahead of them.
