ALMOST there! Bideford are on course for a second successive promotion and a return to the A Division for the first time since 1998 after beating Braunton by 68 runs.
And Braunton can breathe easy at last as the threat of relegation hanging over them was lifted by results elsewhere.
Bideford are second in the table behind champs-in-waiting Tavistock after their win at Kelsey. They are eight points clear of Ivybridge in third.
If Bideford beat Thorverton this Saturday, nothing Ivybridge do against Braunton will be enough to overtake them.
Skipper James Ford said ‘almost there’ isn’t job done and he won’t be celebrating until the last few points are in the bag.
“Dan Barratt and Paul Heard played aggressively in the middle order and the lower order chipping in got us a more-than respectable 227
“Tight bowling early by us put the run rate up and it was good to see Josh Atkinson get wickets.
“We are in a good position but still need one more good performance.”
Braunton are mathematically safe from the threat of relegation as fellow strugglers Barnstaple & Pilton can’t catch them after their defeat by Shobrooke Park.
Bideford’s 44.3-over total of 227 all out owed plenty to a stand of 74 for the sixth wicket between Paul Heard (38) and Dan Barratt,
On the way to 104 for five the only significant score had come from skipper James Ford with 44 off 68 balls.
Alex Hodges (2-29) bowled well against his former team-mates and Matt Smith (3-52) had success at a price.
Braunton were undone at the top of the order by Josh Atkinson (4-32) backed up by Heard and Josh King with a wicket each.
There was no coming back from 46 for five despite a brave effort by the bottom half of the order.
Mark Mitchell made 39 and Smith 29, which kept Bideford in the field longer than anticipated.
Braunton were finally all out for 159 in the 41st over.
