TORQUAY CC is hosting the first Dick Lear Cup game today (2.00 pm) contested by teams representing two mid-week cup competitions.
A Brockman Cup XI will play an Aaron Printers Narracott Cup XI for the Dick Lear Cup in a 40-over game.
Lear, who died nearly five years ago, played in both competitions for Torquay during more than 25 years with the club. Towards the end of his playing career Dick switched to Kingskerswell, where he later turned to umpiring.
The Man of the Match award will be made by Torquay president Bob Dickinson, who was a team-mate of Lear's at both his clubs.
