Another soggy Saturday in Prem sets up title decider
ANOTHER soggy Saturday in the Premier Division means it is going to go right down to the wire at both ends of the table.

Leaders Sidmouth started against bottom side Heathcoat and were 50 for four when rain stopped play in the only game to see any action at all.

It's all or nothing this Saturday as Sidmouth play second-placed Exmouth, who are 13 points behind them with 20 to play for.

The situation at the bottom is just as tight with 13 points between five clubs battling to dodge the drop.

Heathcoat gained two points on the teams above them thanks to Jack Menheneott taking all four wickets to fall at Sidmouth.

Heathcoat play Bovey Tracey (3rd) in their last game. The big match is the one between Sandford (9th) and Bradninch (8th).

Budleigh (7th) are at Plymouth and Torquay (6th) visit North Devon.

Exeter didn't have to play at Paignton to collect the two points which send them up as champions.

Cornwood need two points from their trip to Exeter to win promotion as runners-up and return to the top flight for the first time since 2003, when they were relegated without a win to their name.

At the other end of the table South Devon have been doomed for a while. Either Shobrooke or Braunton will go with them.

Barton - who got to 27 for two against Lewdown before it rained - are guaranteed promotion from the B Division. Ten points at Barnstaple will clinch the title.

A classic last-day finale sees second-placed Hatherleigh go to third-in-the table Chudleigh needing four points to pip their hosts for the runners-up place.

It's been all over for a while at the bottom as Axminster and Dartington will be taking the drop.

There's still plenty to play for in the C Division where all the top five are battling to the end.

Bideford crushed Kingsbridge by 174 runs yesterday -Josh King making 111 off 48 balls and Martin Stewart taking five for 35 - to move within five points of second-placed Ivybridge.

No other game started in the C Division so Stoke Gabriel remain top on 202pts, followed by Ivybridge (195), Chagford (191), Bideford (190) and Ipplepen (185).

Ipplepen play Chagford in the only game between the contenders.

There was no play at all in the D Division, which leaves leaders Yelverton almost there. Two points of relegated Cockington will do the trick.

Plymouth CS&R and Seaton are in the running for second spot. Cockington are down and either Whimple or Countess Wear will accompany them.
