DAVE Ewings was named man of the match as Tavistock defeated Paignton by 43 runs.

Tavistock, who won the toss and batted, made 135 all out.

Paignton bowlers Terry Friend and Powell had Tavistock on the back foot at 48 for five before Jones and Tony Clapp took the total to 98.

After Jones was bowled by Jess Whitley for 38, Ewings cracked three sixes on his way to a rapid 27.

Paignton opened up with Graham Ashworth and McLune, who found Doug Treloar (9-3-12-1) and Callow hard to get away.
