Hatherleigh stretch winning run to six games

HATHERLEIGH overwhelmed Lewdown by 117 runs to make it six wins on the trot in the A Division.

Mark Lake’s side finished last season with five wins and picked up where they left off.

There were half-centuries for Chris Jelley (55),Rhys Davies (75) and Carl Schwarz (60) in a handy total of 250 all out.

No one made more than Johann Wessells (32) as Lewdown were skittled out for 133 – Mark Brock taking four for 37 and Schwarz two for 22.

Hatherleigh are at home to Sandford on Saturday.

BARTON got some game time in against Cornwood at Cricketfield Road, although the game didn’t go the distance.

Barton batted for 30.2 overs to reach 135 for six – Jack Potter making a top score of 34.

Porter opened up with Shaun Needham with a stand worth 51 before Matt Skeemer (2-21) prised them apart by snaring Needham lbw.

Porter and Tom Drake went in quick succession to Craig Harris (2-20) and Skeemer respectively.

There were two wickets for Kiwi left-armer Craig James on his Cornwood debut.

Barton’s Tom Porter hit a rapid 32 not out off 21 balls before the terminal downpour arrived.

 

BIDEFORD’S A Division game at Bradninch was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

James Ford’s men are at home to Barton this Saturday afternoon.
