B Division 2nd XI - Pens narrow gap

IPPLEPEN narrowed the gap between them and leaders Plymstock to19 points thanks to brisk six-wicket win over Kingsbridge.
Sam Barrett took five for 20 as Kings were bundled out for 86 – Shaun Taylor making 25.
Simon Harris (35) was Pens’ main run scorer when they batted.
Plymstock could only draw with Sidmouth, who were chasing a target 245 to win pumped up by a Josh Hocken century.
No one made more than Harvey Sargent as Sidmouth slowed to 194 for seven in reply.
Abbotskerswell and South Devon fought out a high-scoring draw in a game which cojld have gone either way.
Abbots’ new boy Paul Mitchell hit 85 and Guy Harrison—Roberts 66 in a total of 228 for nine, Richard Beumont and Dave Amery had three wickets each.
South Devon’s Matt Blackmore then cracked 106 in a total of 208 for nine. Andy Lock took four for 35.
Brixham had Ottery St Mary holding on for a draw after Mike Barron (67) and Tom Hopper (40) helped post 207 for five.
A Dean made 51 for Ottery, who finished on 143 for eight.
Ben Newcombe took five for 29 as Alphington dismissed Bideford for 79, then hit 26 not out on the chase.
