B Division - Chudleigh skipper wary of new boys Ipplepen

CHUDLEIGH skipper Ed Foreman says it would be foolish to treat Ipplepen with anything but the upmost respect.
The B Division new boys have shot straight to the top of the table thanks to wins over Barnstaple, Shobrooke Park and South Devon.
Chudleigh have started well with wins over Ivybridge and Braunton, but by narrow margins. They were rained off against South Devon on day one.
Said Foreman: “We still have a lot of players missing this week but if we can get through it with a positive result we will be in a good place next week.
“I don't know a lot about Ipplepen, but have only heard good things.
“Three wins from three in a division where anyone can beat anyone doesn't lie so we are expecting a good challenge.
“We have been doing a lot of things right over the past few weeks and I want the boys to keep that going.”
Matt Ball replaces veteran seamer Mark Heather in an otherwise unchanged side.
Ipplepen are further strengthened by the belated arrival of batting all-rounder Nick Fairbank, who has been playing District cricket in Melbourne.
Joe Abbott and skipper Keith Wakeham are both back in the team as well, as is Sam deFriend.
GARY Larcombe and Dan Murnane are ruled out by work commitments for Axminster’s trip to Braunton.
Ex-Seaton batter John Waterhouse comes in for his first league game and Dave Hayball is promoted from the 2^nd XI.
“Hopefully we can bat a bit better than last week against Abborskerswell as the bowling and fielding are giving us a chance to win.”
Alex Hodges and Jon Higgs are unavailable for Braunton Martin Smith and Mark Mitchell cone back.
PLYMSTOCK skipper Scott Mansfield is getting positive vibes ahead of the game against Thorverton.
Plymstock won by three runs under pressure thanks to a strong bowling performance.
It is early days yet, but Mansfield can see signs the side is coming together nicely.
“After Saturday's close, hard-fought win against Shobrooke, hopefully we can kick on this week against a team looking improve on last week’s disappointing result against Ivybridge,” said Mansfield.
“Last week tight bowling and fielding turned around a game that at one point seemed to be out of our hands at 101-1 at drinks.
“A great spell of spin bowling from Dave orchard and Ian Whaley pulled back the game.
“With Australian Nick Lowe and man of the match Jack Horton bowling the last overs, we managed to squeeze out a win.
“All 11 really showed up from start to finish during our fielding and put in a great performance, a standard set for the rest of the season, I hope.
“If we can apply ourselves whilst batting and get a bit of luck, we shouldn't be too far away this season.”
Plymstock are unchanged, something that hasn't happened for some time.
Thorverton, still smarting from their defeat by Ivybridge, have made three team changes.
Jamie Khan is in to open the batting; Christian Cabburn to bowl seam up and Jack Stirling to bowl leg spin.
SHOBROOKE Park have got Devon U17 rising star Dan Pyle available for the next few matches while there is a break in his Blundell’s School commitments.
Pyle comes in against Abbotskerswell tomorrow.
With Phil Anning not available, Pyle’s arrival is well timed for Shobrooke.
Steve Bowman back in for Abbots at the expense of Paul Mitchell. Phil Lacey is fit again so comes back in for Charlie Hill.
ELSEWHERE in the B Division, Ivybridge are at home to South Devon.
