B Division - Lewdown at point of no return
LEWDOWN are playing to stay in the promotion race when they entertain second-placed Chudleigh.

“It is a massive game,” said Lewdown skipper Charlie Hughes.

“A win will keep us in with an outside chance of promotion, defeat and our challenge is over.

“I am just hoping the weather doesn't play any more of a part than it already has.”

Chudleigh skipper Jon Marton

Chudleigh skipper Jon Martin has a healthy respect for Lewdown, but that doesn’t mean he will be overawed by them.

“Lewdown seemed a very good team the first time, but if we want to keep in touch for promotion we will need to put in a very good performance,

“I think we will be a tough team to beat and will be looking to win all five of our remaining games anddoing our upmost to do just that and win the league

Ed Foreman is out with a hamstring injury but Lance Ames should be back in after missing last week’s game with a knee problem.

Aussie Sean Day is now available for the rest of the season to bolster the team with bat and ball.

Leaders Barton have batter Sean Adderely back for the home game against Tavistock.

Barton are 17 points clear of third-placed Hatherleigh, which gives them a massive advantage in the promotion stakes.

Skipper Adam Parker isn’t looking that far ahead just yet though.

“As I keep saying, we need to concentrate on our game and take each week as it comes,” said Parker.

“As always we will be looking for a positive result this weekend and hope other results go our way so we can open up a bigger gap.”

Thorverton, at home to Hatherleigh, need a win to avoid dropping out of contention.

“It is a big few weeks for us coming up and I'm hoping for another positive result this week to keep us in the hunt for promotion,” said skipper Paul Fielder.

“All the top five have potentially tricky games this week.

“Hatherleigh will be strong but with a squad to pick from for the first time this season we will possibly have our strongest team out.

“Hatherleigh probably had the better of the game at their place until the rain came so we need to be prepared.”
