HATHERLEIGH captain Mark Lake is hoping to build on the win over Thorverton last time out and stay second in the table. The only constant in the B Division for some time has been Barton’s residency at the top of the table as the running order behind them keeps changing.
Hatherleigh snatched second off Chudleigh last time out by five points and are keen to stay there when lowly Dartington pay a visit.
“I am hoping to open a gap between ourselves and the team below but know Dartington will be no push over despite their position in the league,” said Lake, who expects to have an unchanged side.
Thorverton dropped 22 points below Hatherleigh and face a tough bounce-back game at home to Barton.
“Things are tight still but, realistically, I think our chances are slim now after last week’s loss,” said Fielder, who also anticipates being unchanged.
“We are strong again this week so we will try to take some revenge out on Barton, who will pose a tough game,” said Fielder.
Barton captain Adam Parker is a paid-up member of the ‘one-game-at-a-time club’ but even he is cautiously optimistic about the game ahead.
“We haven't played at Thorverton before so will go there with the same mindset we have had all year, to concentrate on our game and perform the best we can,” said Parker.
“If we do that we are confident we can come away with a positive result.”
Lewdown, fourth in the table and 11 points behind Chudleigh, will send Axminster down if they win at Cloakham Lawn.
Skipper Charlie Hughes isn’t bothered about Axminster’s fate; only his own team’s prospects.
We are looking for a win to keep up the pressure on the top three, but not taking anything for granted,” said Hughes, who has no real selection issues.
Tavistock return to the Ring after their drubbing at Barton looking to make themselves safe.
“We feel we just want one more result to make sure we definitely stay up,” said captain Shan Daymond.
Olly Sale comes back in for the absent Ian Gray.
Chudleigh captain Jon Martin said his problem is getting a strong side out for a crucial game.
“We have major selection issues this week with unavailability and injuries so it could be a scratch side going for a must-win game if we want to stay in the hunt,” said Martin.
Elsewhere, Alphington go to Barnstaple & Pilton.
