The League are sorry to announce the withdrawal of Cheriton Fitzpaine Cricket Club from the D Division (East) first XI of the Devon Cricket League. The club have formally tendered their withdrawal following the conceding of four League matches this season.
Clubs in the D Division have been advised and the League table has been amended to withdraw points gained against Cheriton Fitzpaine during the season to date. This has been done in line with League Rule 18 (c).
The concerns of smaller clubs in the lower first eleven divisions were raised at a club chairman’s meeting held last night, hosted by the Devon Cricket League. Particularly at risk are clubs having only one adult team playing in smaller communities. It is often difficult for them to integrate young players into adult cricket. The League Executive are keen to look at ways in which it may be possible for these clubs to find a more appropriate playing level.
