Winners 2013: East DevonMatch Report North Devon vs. South Devon - Friendlies format following cancellation due to rain.
West Buckland School, April 14th 2013
The afternoon 24
over match - North U15 girls v South managed by Sue Steart, was again
brilliantly supported and very exciting. South Captain Amelia Wakeham
encouraged her team and with Lucy Pritchard and Kayleigh Davis top
scorers, the South batted out their overs to a score of 141. Millie
Squire (Filleigh) was the pick of the North bowlers taking 3 wickets
with U12 pace bowler Rose Ball taking 2. Kate Williams, Elined Davies
and Carmen Clemewnts took one wicket respectively and showed the depth
of bowlers in the North side. Tight fielding by the South made the
North girls work for their runs. Lauren Bowden (Chulmleigh) opened
solidly and Lydia Clements and Kinna Yewdall both of North Devon Cricket
Club along with Millie Squire retired after reaching their target
score. Daisy Meadowcroft and Eluned Davies batted well at the end and
the North passed the South total of 141 with 6 overs to spare. The
campaign continues next weekend with matches against West Devon in
Plymouth.Match Report South Devon vs. East Devon
Shaldon Optimists Cricket Club, April 28th 2013
The South in the U15 game won the
toss again, elected to field. The first wicket fell for only 11 runs in
the third over, giving the South confidence, this however was short lived when
the partnership of Eva Lloyd (not out 37) and Emily Dodds (retired 37) proved
unbreakable. The girls batted positively, leaving the South to chase 167.
Lily Helston (4-1 off 3 overs),
coming back from injury, bowled exceptionally well, opening the East’s bowling
attack with a wicket maiden! But it was Charlie Green (11-3) and Heather
Edworthy (15-2) that made the South’s chase impossible in the end.
Notable batting from Ellie Ingham Hill (playing up) batted splendidly for her
22 before being caught out and the South out for 90.
A
thoroughly enjoyable day of cricket, from enthusiastic cricketers, from the
beginning to the very end of a very cold day – well done girls!
Match Report East Devon vs. North Devon
Cullompton Cricket Club, May 5th 2013East Devon won the toss and decided to bat first on a hot and sunny afternoon at Cullompton CC. After the fall of an early wicket to Lydia Clements the East batters settled down and exploited the fast outfield. Eva Lloyd was bowled by Lauren Bowden for 14 but after that the next three batters all retired, Emily Dodds with 32, Charlie Green with 31 and Meg Thompson-Summers also with 31. No other wickets fell for the rest of the innings and the East posted a score of exactly 200.In reply the North made a positive start keeping up with the run rate. After Morgan Harrison-Hooton was bowled by Emily Dodds it brought Lydia Clements to the crease. With aggressive batting she hit 9 boundaries but was eventually bowled by Natasha Bryan for 49. In the end the target proved too much to chase down and the North finished on 151 for 7 from their 35 overs, Kate Williams batting well at the end to finish 16 not out. Wickets were shared around the East bowlers with Philly Laverick being the pick. 5 overs, two wickets for seven runs.
