A DEPLETED Dumplings team lost by six wickets to West Buckland.
The Dumplings, suffering from late withdrawals and with three guests from the school making up the numbers, batted first on a very hot day against some very variable bowling.
A slow start produced a modest 45 for 4 off the first 21 overs.
A useful stand between Matt Williamson (61) and Tom White (17) boosted the score and the last 13 overs saw a distinct acceleration with guests Luke Openshaw (26), Cameron Spargo (16 not out) and Duncan Bird (15 off seven balls) making vital late contributions.
Wides and byes also contributed a useful 15 each to the total of 207 for eight.
The School cruised to their target in 40.3 overs with Tom Mitcham, who was unluckily out played-on when the total was 166 for four, making an excellent 108. The remaining 42 runs were knocked off in ten overs with no further fall of wicket.
The Dumplings bowling was undistinguished, though Jeffrey Stanyer with 1 for 46 in 12 overs and Matt Williamson with 1 for 37 in 8.3 were reasonably economical.
