After losing a wicket in the first over Degg & White settled the innings for the West with a stand of 46 & they looked well placed for a good score. Once they were removed Degg for 18 & White for a stylish 31, wickets fell at a steady pace & the West were all out for 109 in the 24th over. Chris Robertson on his district debut took 3-8 proving that bowling straight & full was the order of the day & Max Mejzner took 2-12 with his spin.
The East openers set off at a brisk pace helped by some wayward West bowling. They had 43 on the board before Sam Corney hit his own wicket hooking. Credit goes to Sam as neither umpire saw it & he gave himself out when asked by the umpire. The East lost another quick wicket before Ed Middleton joined Max to score 21 in an unbroken stand of 57 to see the East home by 8 wickets in the 17th over. Max Mejzner scored an unbeaten 43 & showed his calm & unflappable temperament to be the East’s man of the match.
