Working with Cricket Leagues is becoming increasingly important, particularly in addressing the issues around declining participation. Weather can also be a key factor in reducing the amount of cricket played. It is therefore crucial that clubs have suitable equipment to protect pitches against poor weather, thus reducing the number of cancelled or abandoned matches.
We are delighted to announce that this year the scheme will be again be partnered by the Devon Cricket League. Particular emphasis will be placed on considering support for clubs with limited ‘wet weather’ equipment.
Before detailing how the scheme will be working in Devon for 2016, please see below some key messages regarding the scheme:
The Process for Devon Clubs wishing to apply to the EWCT Small Grants Scheme 2016
As I am sure you can appreciate, a figure of £34,000 to spread between all Devon Cricket affiliated clubs is not a huge sum of money. In total we have 100+ clubs that qualify for the scheme of which 18 received funding through the scheme last year. This means there are still a large number of clubs that are eligible for funding in 2016. Clearly, this means that we are not going to be able to support huge projects, and we would like to ensure that we can support as many worthy projects as possible.
With this in mind, please read the guidance notes
(link on right) and have a think about potential projects that your
club may wish to put forward. When doing this please pay particular
attention to the types of projects that are eligible, and not
eligible, and please consider the fact that Devon has £34,000 to
allocate across the whole of the county. After considering these things, and you have a project that you wish to put forward, please complete the application form (link on right) and return
to me with two quotes by Friday 22nd January.
Following January 22nd, the DCB will appoint an representative panel that will meet and review all applications that have been put forward. Please note that it is at the discretion of this panel as to which projects are recommended to the ECB. This process will be completed by Friday 5th February 2016 and all applicants will receive feedback as to whether their projects have been recommended or not. Please note that even once projects have been endorsed by the DCB it is still up to the ECB for final approval.
I hope this clear and understandable, essentially eligible clubs need to complete an application form for the Small Grant Scheme by Friday 22nd January 2016 at the latest. However, if you would like further clarification or wish to discuss anything relating to the scheme in more detail please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
