F Division - Cheslton get ahead of weather

F DIVISION

CHELSTON, who make the long trip to Yarcombe this Saturday, got on with it to beat Chardstock by six wickets.

Mark Faulkner (3-39), Peter McKell (2-27) and Mike Scott (3-29) bundled Chardstock out for 134. Only former Dorset player Richard Pyman (48) put up much of a fight.

John Tallamy (57) and Chris Harrison (31) laid the foundations for Chelston, leaving McKell (23no) to wrap it up.

Yarcombe and Stockland banked maximum points from a 52-run win over Woodbury.

James Mitchum produced the Man of the Match display as he followed up a top score of 69 in his sides 209-8 by taking 6-81 to see Woodbury bowled out for 157.

Richard Arnold (39) and James Taylor (24) were the leading run providers for the visitors. In the home teams innings there was a knock of 49 from Ollie Fuller whilst Nalin Chalin (4-53) and Toby Ingham (3-46) were the main wicket takers for Woodbury.

Cullompton won a low scoring affair at Newton St Cyres where 18 wickets fell for 145 runs. The home side batted first and were bundled out for 72 with only Sam Witheridge(22) making an impression in the face of a superb spell from Cully’s Sri Lankan all-rounder Sanjay Rajapakse who took five wickets for just two runs! Craig Hawkins then top scored with 20 to help the visitors limp over the finishing line at 73-8. Martin Pearce claimed all but two of the Cully wickets to finish with figures of 6-20.

Culmstock took 13 points from their abandoned game at Exeter Civil Service. Will Gingell (84) and Ross Stickland (40) led the Mid Devon side to 239 all out with Mike Skidmore (4-28) and Nick Rowe (4-63) the wicket takers. Viv Murphy then top scored with 21 as the Exeter side replied with 83-4 when rain stopped play for the day. Marcus Busch took 2-33 for Culmstock.

Babbacombe and Kingskerswell had their match abandoned. Batting first Babbacombe closed on 2154-4 with Steve Lewis (93) and Steve Broad (84no) the main run providers, the pair added 134 for the third wicket. Phil Lacey claimed 3-39 for the visitors who were 70-1 when bad light forced an early end. Mark Andrews was not out 35 at the premature close.
