Former Devon Player Shines in Ashes Test Match
Former Devon youth and women's player Heather Knight came away with the Man of the Match award for her personal best in an England shirt of 157 in the first innings of this weeks 1st Ashes Women's Test v Australia. Heathers innings was certainly a game changing one with England chasing the Aussies first innings 331 for 6 declared, England had slumped to 113 for 6 with Knight still at the crease not out, she was joined by Laura Marsh who then put on a 156 run partnership to get the home side in touching distance of the Australians. Unfortunately after Heather was finally run out for 157 off 338 balls as England were bowled out for 314. Australia batted again and posted 231 for 5 declared, this left England needing 248 runs to win in the fourth innings unfortunately Heather fell run out for only 4, but England managed 93 for 2 when the overs ran out.

Heathers performance was outstanding and has done her home county very proud. Well done and keep going in the rest of the Ashes series.
