LEWDOWN lost by 132 runs at Hatherleigh, but results elsewhere were kind to Harry Geering’s outfit and they live to fight another day in the A Division.
Chudleigh are going down with Abbotskerswell, who got into a winning position against Brixham – they were 156 for three chasing 199 to win only to fall 11 runs short of victory.
At the halfway stage of the season Hatherleigh were one point and one place clear of the relegation spots.
They finished 51 points up on Chudleigh, who went down with bottom side Abbotskerswell.
“After the first month of season I would never have believed we could of achieved what we have – very satisfying,” said skipper Mark Lake.
“There is always someone in the team who will be stand up and be counted.
“Lewdown was a very simple win, the easiest win of season by far.
“We didn't really have to work to hard to get wickets one we got the first one.
“Looking forward to next season and just maybe we can finish higher again.”
Hatherleigh made 228 for nine in 50 overs, recovering from 109 for six thanks to a stand of 60 for the seventh wicket between Rob Chapman (30) and Ryan Davies (46).
Danny Forrester made 46 before Chapman and Davies got going with Charlie Neilson adding 25 after they went.
Charlie Hughes and Dave Ball had three wickets each for Lewdown, who promptly raced to 64 for none in reply.
Geering (36) and Ball (26) made the runs before Lewdown collapsed in a heap to 96 all out.
Rob Fishleigh (4-16) led the rout, aided and abetted by Mark Lake (3-8) and Carl Schwarz (2-3).
Lewdown live to fight another day by a six-point margin.
