The West beat the North at a canter at North Devon CC in a match that was blighted by a mammoth 104 extras in total spread fairly evenly across both sides. Too many dropped catches and freebies by the North allowed the West an easy passage to a total of 220-9 in their 50 overs. Dan Hussey, taking full advantage of the missed chances to make 65 and Charlie Barriball weighing in with 36 were the main run getters in a total that in truth could easily have been more. Some disciplined bowling at the end of the innings coupled with a lack of whacks from the West kept the eventual total to a chaseable target on a fast scoring ground.
With extras (53) and Tom Gidney (40) making up the bulk of a score of 135 – 5 and with 18 overs left, the North were very much in the hunt. But 135-5 became 146 All Out far too easily and far too quickly and the West came out on top as deserving winners bagging maximum points.
