Devon v Royal Navy XI, 15th May, North Molton CC
Devon completed their pre-season fixtures with a comfortable win over a Royal Navy side weakened by players deployed at sea or overseas. Nevertheless a worthwhile run out for both sides. Devon fielded a side that contained several of their up and coming junior players and all played a full part in a 57 run victory. Devon batted first and a patient start from Nicole Richards and Amara Carr came to an end when Carr mistimed a drive to extra cover with the score on 22. Claire Ramsay came to the crease and together they added 52 before Richards fell for 24 and Ramsay for 28. Skipper Lottie Miles accelerated the innings with a quickfire 44 from 38 balls, assisted ably by Rebecca Donohue who made 10 from 17 as the Devon innings closed on 145-5 from their 45 overs.
The Royal Navy innings was punctuated by the fall of regular wickets as only three players made it to double figures, Becky Chapman a former Devon youth player top scoring with 16. Youngster Emily Ward was the pick of the bowling with 3-11 from six overs, with one wicket apiece for Jess ippen, Catherine Mitcham and Rebecca Donohue. Full Scorecard
