Below you will find a link to the Devon Cricket - Playing Pitch Survey. Some clubs around the county will be aware that many of the Local Authorities in the county are tasked with producing a strategy for sports pitches by Sport England and the Nation Planning Policy Framework. In short, this helps to provide accurate data on local pitches and determines the need to maintain current provision and for any additional provision. It is vitally important that cricket pitches are protected, no matter if you own your pitch or you lease one, the threat from developers and land sale is very real for lots of clubs in Devon
In addition, by ensuring cricket pitches are represented in these strategies, local forums, clubs, governing bodies etc are able to, in many cases, leverage a financial contribution towards maintaining or developing new pitches or ancillary facility provision. We would urge every club in Devon to please take the time to complete this Survey as it will ensure your club is included in any future discussion within your Local Authority planning. It will also enable us to have a clearer picture across Devon when looking at facility priorities.
All of the information gathered in this online survey will be collated with League information about your ground, any umpires markings and any Devon Cricket Groundsman's Association information held, such as pitch assessments. Again, please ensure your club has the best chance of future development and/or simply a chance for longer term tenure by providing your details

Information on Playing Pitch Strategies from Sport England:
Developed by Sport England in partnership with:
- The Football Association
- England and Wales Cricket Board
- Rugby Football Union
- Rugby Football League
- England Hockey Board
Sport England believes that to ensure there is a good supply of high
quality playing pitches and playing fields to meet the sporting needs of
local communities, all local authorities should have an up to date PPS.
By providing valuable evidence and direction a PPS can be of
significant benefit to a wide variety of parties and agendas. This is where Cricket can benefit and more importantly your club.
Local authorities across the UK are tasked to produce a clear and robust assessment of playing pitches to help develop and apply local
planning policy. This will therefore assist Local Authorities with meeting the
requirements of the National Planning Policy Framework.
