Match Report:
The day started very cold & wet and the chance of play looked extremely remote! However with the persistence of the Kingskerswell CC ground staff we managed to have a reduced game (30 over) starting at 2pm.
With a drying wicket the toss was all important and first honours went to the captain of the West Harry Dunlop. After winning the toss Harry kindly offered the South the chance to bat!
The South quickly lost their first man Seb Born. The ship was then steadied for the next 15 overs by captain Toby Codd & Will Dorey before Codd was caught behind by an agile Charlie Barriball. Impressive fielding especially catching, dispatched the South’s middle order cheaply. A last wicket stand of 13 between Jake Engstrom & George Scott pushed the South’s total to 78 all out from 28 overs.
The West started steadily but lost early wickets including a very special catch by Dan Wolf at square leg and at 30 for 4 after 8 overs it was anyone’s game. The fifth wicket partnership between Dan Goodey & Matthew Borbon saw the west cruise home to victory with 4 overs to spare.
A special THANK YOU must go to those involved for making this game happen – especially Mitch and all at Kingskerswell CC.
