Bradninch show Tavvy no mercy

BRADNINCH showed Tavistock no mercy as they romped to a nine-wicket win in double quick time.

Tavistock were all out for 67 in exactly 33 overs – Ross Acton (3-21) and spinner Will Squire (4-9) doing most of the damage.

Ian Gray made 13 and Arron Churchill 24. No one else got more than eight and four batters didn’t score a run between them.

At one stage Tavistock lost six wickets for seven runs as they plummeted to 36 for seven.

Bradinch didn’t hang around knocking off the runs – it was job done in the 14th over.

Dan Hardy made 22 not out and Charlie Walker an unbeaten 34 on the chase.

James McGahey had the only wicket to fall, which was that of opener Mark Ashplant.

After two cancellations and no cricket so far, Bradninch captain Dan Hardy was relieved to get out in the middle

“I was just glad to get the season started,” said Hardy.

“Their openers played Ross and van Wyk really well, but once we got rid of them they collapsed.

“It’s Sandford next, a game to look forward to.”
