ALPHINGTON captain Stuart Shaw praised Will Pring and Ben Newcombe for getting his side off the hook at Uplyme.
The Alphas were 86 for eight after a going over from Paddy Barrowclough (4-23) in difficult batting conditions.
Pring went on to make an unbeaten 50 and Newcombe 23 not out in a total of 158 for eight.
Newcombe steamed in after tea to take five for 25, and Tom Bath picked up three for 13, as Uplyme were skittled for 80.
Shaw said the wicket wasn’t great at Uplyme and 150 for eight was a far better than par score.
“We didn’t help ourselves with some bad shot selection, but at 86 for eight I though if we could get 110-120 we would have enough to win,” said Shaw.
“Will and Ben put us out of sight. Having given ourselves a chance, we bowled exceptionally well and got a deserved win.”
