Match report:
West Devon won the toss and asked North Devon to bat first on a green and slightly damp Plymouth College wicket.
West kept the run rate down, and after 17 over’s North Devon were only on 17 with some good bowling from Dom Mulberry and Todd Rossouw. Rossouw made the first break thought having R. Clayton caught at fine leg for 10. Remaining opener E. Mann and B. Ward then put on a stand off 39 to take the score to 57 before Ward was caught behind for 7. Mann was next out for 37 bowled by James Reid. B.Meadowcroft batted well for 26 before being trapped in front off Matt Skeemers bowling. J. Quinn (19no) and D. Fogerty (15) were the only other batsmen who got themselves into double figures. With the help of 47 extras from the West, North Devon ended up on 184 for 9 off their 44 overs.
With problems with the tea both managers decided to have a 10 minute turn around while teas were being sorted.
West had a bad start, losing Skeemer (run out) and Rossouw (bowled) within two balls in the second over. A stand of 36 between Mulberry and Steve Colmer started to carm the nervous of West, before Colmer was caught and bowled off Meadowcroft. West lost the Mulberry (13) Ethan Dalby (0) and James Douie (0) with only one run being added. Tea was taken with the score on 40 for 6. After tea it was a matter of seeing off as many over’s as possible for the West. George Thompson put bat to ball and scored 13. Thompson was out with the score at 58 for 7. The next three wickets were taken with six runs being added and the West were all out 64.
