On a cold and very windy day at Lewdown West Devon won the toss and elected to bowl first. This looked to be a good decision as Callum Worth (3-24) on his home ground and the accurate Daniel Farnham (1-15) made early inroads to leave the South in trouble at 11-3 and further wickets for Dunlop (1-31) and Horn (1-34) left South Devon in deeper trouble at 50-5. However, the experienced Devon players Yabsley (13), Ashley Causey (16) Karl Syzmanski (21) and Daniel Bullock (12) stuck in and made sure that South Devon used up all their overs and they made it to a creditable 150 all out with Alex Smith (2-11) picking up late wickets.
In reply the West started well and made it to 50 without too much trouble before the reliable Luke Julyan (11) was adjudged lbw to Goodman (2-15), but with Oliver Parsons (26) holding the reply together, with 10 overs left and just 45 runs required and 8 wickets in hand the game looked in the bag for West Devon. However, the accuracy of Devon bowlers Ashley Casuey (2-23), Karl Syzmanski (3-9) and Yabsley (2-11) began to exert pressure on the home team and with little experience of ‘real’ cricket the West batters panicked playing some extravagant shots and amazingly lost an incredible 8 wickets for 9 runs in 4 disastrous overs to hand a jubilant South Devon the match.
The South player of the match was awarded to Karl Syzmanski for his composed batting scoring 21 not out off 29 overs and for his accurate medium pace bowling conceding just 9 runs off his 8 overs
The West player of the match was awarded to Oliver Parsons for his composed openers innings of 26 off 36 overs
