A DIVISION 2nd
EXMOUTH seamer Matt Tarry was ordered not to finish his last over by the umpires after losing his line and length in the 83-run defeat at Chudleigh.
Tarry, who had taken five wickets for 43 runs, started bowling head-high beamers and was removed from the attack after a warning.
Chudleigh had found runs hard to come by when Tarry was bowling at the stumps and were all out for 149. Ben Ripley (35) and Lewis Howard (29) were the leading run scores, getting them in a stand of 72 for the fourth wicket.
It turned out that Chudleigh had more than enough as Exmouth were bowled out for 66 in reply. Take out 20 extras and there wasn’t a lot off the bat.
Graeme Wilson with five for six was Exmouth’s destroyer in chief, aided and abetted by Matt Ball (2-28) and Mark Heather (2-4).
Barton won a low-scoring affair by three wickets away to promotion rivals Sandford.
The Sandford batting was a disaster with Brian Leech (27) and Paul Smith (23) making the only scores of note.
Sandford collapsed from 67 for three to 86 all out, which means seven wickets fell for 19 runs! Stuart Bowker (4-25) did most of the damage, assisted by Dave Palmer (2-23) and Luke Adderley (2-19).
Barton had it no easier when they batted and were 25 for six after 12 overs when the teams went off for tea! Leach (5-48) and Sean Cockram (2-11) were posing the problems.
Stuart Perrett (33) and Pete Gartrell got Barton over the hump by putting on 47. Alex Hunt (17no) wrapped things up.
AT last! Sidmouth 3rd XI are off the mark thanks to an eight-wicket win over Plymstock.
The only time Sidmouth hadn’t lost this season was when they tied at Chudleigh last month so a win was long overdue.
Sidmouth remain bottom of the table – 41 points away from safety – but where there is life there is hope.
Plymstock were bundled out for 109 by Graham Munday (3-14), Tom Chaplin (2-15) and Dom Bess (2-20).
Man of the match Munday then stroked 53 not out and James Gingell was unbeaten on 34 as Sidmouth knocked off the runs.
Braunton ran out of puff at Bradninch where they abandoned the chase eight wickets down with a couple of overs to go.
Chris Acton slammed 85 not out, and Syed Hussain made 32, as Bradninch reached 208 for seven. Chris Brigden took three for 63
Jamie Matthews (90) led the Braunton reply and with Mark Johnson (29) chipping in the chase was on.
Phil Chappell (4-21) and Simon Bailey (2-29) bowled Bradninch back into contention,
Two overs out Brigden and Walid Iqbal shut up shop and took the draw at 193 for eight.
