A Division 2nd XI - Hunt MoM for Barton

A DIVISION

BRAUNTON were unable to raise a 2nd XI to visit Plymouth 3rd XI and have had 10 points deducted, which drops them to one place above the relegation places.

Stoke Gabriel were making a game of it against Bradninch when the weather intervened.

Luca Fencl (77no) and Billy Wakeley (55) had been Bradninch’s main run getters in a total of 240 for five.

Ashley Hill was 42 not out for Stoke in a running total of 83 for one with 30 overs to go.

Alex Hunt featured with bat and ball for Barton, who moved further away from the wrong end of the table following a 57-run win over Sandford.

Barton’s situation looked bleak after Sean Fryatt (6-22) and Richard Coupe 2-37) had bundled them out for 116.

Hunt made 28 and Martin Powell 34 – no one else reached double figures!

Sandford struggled from the start against Mike Lievesley (2-17) and Will Wyatt (2-22), limping to 17 for three after 22 overs.

From 46 for five the Sandford collapse was dramatic – Hunt and Pete Gartrell finishing with three wickets each as the home side slumped to 59 all out.

Second-placed Heathcoat were 63 for two chasing Hatherleigh’s 187 for eight at the early close. Terry Reynolds made 70 for Hatherleigh.
