Will Babbacombe pause after three promotions?

BABBACOMBE’S charge up the league ladder may pause this seaon now they have arrived in the C Division West
Three successive promotions – all as champions – have moved Babbacombe well away form the basement division.
There is a new South African quick bowler this season to replace A J Van Wyk, who took 35 on the way out of the D Division.
His name is Cameron Fryer, a 21 year-old who bats as well.
None of the promotion-winning side has left, although keeper Paul Sutherland won’t be around much until late June. The arrival of Billy Alcock from Stoke Gabriel is well timed for Babbacombe.
Willy Wyatt has moved across from Barton looking for 1st XI cricket.
Player-coach Andy Kingdon, who topped 500 league runs last season, said it could be a transitional season.
“This could be a year for consolidation, although if we get the chance to push on we will,” said Kingdon.
“Although we do have a few ageing players, the likes of Mike Pugh and Paul Bates were still turning in the performances weekly last season. If they keep doing that you never know.”
Babbacombe are at home to Ashburton on Saturday.
