Baggs promises Bovey a fight to the finish

EXMOUTH captain Richard Baggs is determined to give leaders Bovey Tracey a run for their money in the second half of the season as the Premier Division title race hots up.
Bovey enjoyed a six-point lead over second-placed Exmouth going into yesterday's round of fixtures with Sidmouth a further nine-points back in third.
Exmouth lost their first two games of the season, which immediately handed the initiative to Bovey Tracey.
By winning five completed games on the trot, Exmouth are hard on Bovey's heels.
'We are in a good position to chase Bovey down and have the players to do it,' claimed Baggs.
'David Lye is in the form of his life, Max Curtis has proved a very useful signing, Jamie Tapper is getting better and better and Barney Huxtable is playing as well as he has done in his time with us.
'If I am honest a lot is going to depend on whether the West Indians call up Akeal Hosein for the U19 World Cup next month.
'He does everything well - batting, bowling and fielding - but it is his bowling we will miss more than anything.
'Having an accomplished left-arm spinner to bring on mid-innings has been a massive advantage for us.'
Sidmouth, Bradninch and a few others may feel Baggs is being one-eyed not counting them into his equation, although that's not strictly true.
Baggs believes the standard of the Premier Division is consistent, which will make for an interesting second half.
'I think Bovey Tracey are the favourites - and I am not saying that just to play down our chances as we are in it to win it,' said Baggs.
'Just about every team has match winners - and not just one of them either.
'Sidmouth are a strong side and have been for ages, that's why they won it three years on the trot before last year.
'Bradninch have got match winners, you can never write off North Devon, especially if the Overton's are playing, and Torquay at Torquay are always difficult - particularly if Somerset let Max Waller play.
'It is the sort of division this year where everyone can beat everyone. Whoever wins it could lose three or even four games, which doesn't usually happen.'
