B DIVISION
HEATHCOAT are starting to pull away at the top of the B Division as they won again while chasers Stoke Gabriel faltered.
Darron Drew took two for 17 and Joe Wadham three for 18 as Heathcoat dismissed Abbotskerswell for 126. Alex Birt (27) pipped Sean Green (23) for top score.
Justin Williams (55no) and James Davis (27) made an eight-wicket win look easy.
Heathcoat have now opened up a 27-point gap over second-placed Stoke, who drew a high scoring affair against South Devon.
Stoke Skipper Paul Collings was dropped on none – and made South Devon pay by hitting 126 not out. Nathan Kidd was unbeaten on 86 in a total of 288 for one on a belting pitch prepared by John Webber!
Matt Blackmore then clattered 136 for South Devon, who were 271 for three at the close. It was his second ton this term against Stoke.
Alphington’s Matt Barnes joined the ton-up club when he took an undefeated 134 off Kingsbridge in a total of 259 for seven.
The Alphas lacked the firepower to get Kingsbridge out though and with Ed Church making 55 and Tony Treeby 38 they reached 178 for eight in reply.
Bideford proved too strong for Shobrooke Park in the B Division, rolling them over for 141 with Paul Shepherd and Alex Crisp taking thee wickets each. Nick James (23) and Dave Jolliffe (32) had the only scores of note for Shobrooke
Crisp (64) and Alex Wood (54no) got Bideford home despite the odd distraction from Jolliffe (2-27).
Tim Robinson had an afternoon to remember as a strong Brixham side trounced Yelverton by 166 runs.
First Robinson made 105 not out in Brixham’s 273 for three declared. Ex 1st XI captain Chris Lanyon wasn’t far behind on 90 and Dan Franklin had 60.
Robinson and Joe Hyde then took three wickets each as Yelverton were skittled for 110. Chris Cottrell’s 36 was as good as it got for the Moorlanders.
