CHUDLEIGH beat Plymstock by two wickets to knock the early-season pacesetters off the top of the table.
Dom Wood (18) and Matt Smith (27) put on a 50-run opening partnership in the first 13 overs for Plymstock.
The introduction of Tertius Gouws (4-27) into the attack paid immediate dividends straight away, with Wood (18) holing out to mid-wicket.
Smith and David Orchard (0) fell in quick succession, leaving Plymstock 6 for three. Rhys Contessa and Josh Hocken (15) started the rebuilding process but it was heavy going to 148 for eight with Rob Clarke (2-13) and Will Heather (2-24) helping to keep it tight.
Chudleigh zig-zagged to 90 for five in reply with the runs coming in stands of 40-plys between Lewis Howard (31) and Clarke, followed by Mark Solway (24) and Jon Martin 21.
Orchards’s three for 20 had done Chudleigh no favours and with Jack Thomas nipping out two more the target was 19 to win with three wickets in hand.
When the eighth wicket went at 144 it was nail-biting time, but Jack Vittles kept calm to hit the winning boundary.
SOUTH Devon bounced back from their defeat at Tavistock with an 85-run victory over winless Dartington & Totnes.
A solid effort down the order took South Devon to a total of 202 for six.
Tom Carter top scored with 45, Henry Burningham (39) and Dave Baldock (28) chipped in then Adrian Hewings nudged and nurdled 37 not out at the end.

Matt Thurlow (23) and Ryan Stevenson (18) resisted, but at 84 for seven the die was cast.
Tail-enders Harold Stevenson and Richard Sugden delayed the inevitable, but with Pat Duke taking four for 24 D&T were all out for 117.
CHAGFORD put the brake on promotion chasing Barnstaple & Pilton to take the lions’ share of the points from a winning draw.
Billy Searle top scored with 80 in Chagford’s tally of 268 for eight. Along the way the 15-year-old all-rounder put on 145 for the fifth wicket with captain Derek Lammonby.
Searle hit 10 fours while Lammonby cracked a six and eight fours in his unbeaten 69.
Henry Gordon-Lennox made 28.
Pick of the B&P bowlers with four for 77 was Jack Popham.
The B&P reply was dominated by Ed Yeo with an undefeated 136, but one man can’t do it all on his own – especially when the chase sits at 95 for five.
Only Brady Saunders made it into the 20s in support of Yeo as B&P reached 213 for seven in reply.
Lammonby capped a fine game with four for 56 and Jerry Christophers had two for 48.
THORVERTON were frustrated for the final seven overs by Tavistock’s last pair of batsman in a drawn game.
Blake Charlton hit the top score of 88 for Throverton as they got up to 227 for nine in 46 overs.
Charlton and Paul Fielder (47) got Thors away to a 137-run start, which was topped up by Will Denford (42) and Jake Crouch (16) notching 50 for the fifth wicket.
Tavvy seamer Chris Hutchings bagged four for 48,
Tavistock’s best efforts with the bat came from Bill Simpson (32) and Ian Gray (28). Ali Fury (3-54) and the returning Dave Green (2-39) did most of the damage.
Leg-spinner Green hasn’t played for six seasons, preferring the lure of the golf course, but was a prolific wicket-taker in the past and his return gives Thors a big boost.
Seven overs out Sam Willetts and Andy Gauler shut up shop to take Tavvy to 181 for nine innings closed.
“It was a flat wicket, nothing spiteful, and if you wanted to stay in you could,” said disappointed Thors’ captain Ally Fury.
CLYST St George are winless and rock bottom in the B Division following a five-wicket defeat by visiting Axminster.
Clyst made heavy going of getting to 216 all out – they were 32 for four at one stage – and would have got nowhere near it without the lower order efforts of Pete Weatherhead (48) and George Randall-Johnson (47), who put on 69 for the seventh wicket.
The wickets were shared around with three for Nick Taylor and two each for Danny Larcombe and David Murnane.
Axminster got up and running with a stand of 111 between Gary Larcombe, who carried his bat for 82, and Tristan Wakeley (57).
Weatherhead (3-46) and Pete Andrews (2-26) gave Clyst some hope, but Rob Walker (20no) saw them off and put on 47 unbroken with Larcombe to win it with two overs to spare.
