B DIVISION 2nd XI
THE mid-Devon derby at Knightshayes went to form with leaders Heathcoat handing out a 163-ru drubbing to bottom side Shobrooke Park.
Justin Williams was Heathcoat’s top scorer with 78 in a total of 206 all out. Tom Frankpitt (27) and Matt Hague (24) chipped in. Dave Jolliffe shone with the ball for Shobrooke, taking five for 47.
Hague then took five for eight and Lee Dixon three for 18 as Shobrooke were skittled out for 43.
Defeat leaves Shobrooke 44 points away from safety and without a win this season. Heathcoat are 17 points in front of second-placed Stoke Gabriel, who routed Kingsbridge by nine wickets.
Alphington drew with Yelverton, who were nine wickets down when the overs ran out.
Nick Ainscough (39) and Lee Rowe (32) led the way for Alphington in a total of 200 for seven.
Rowe then took six for 51 to leave Yelverton hanging on at 170 for nine. Gerry Keen and Chris Pearson both made 30.
Bideford came unstuck at Newton Abbot where lowly South Devon beat them by five wickets in the B Division.
John Weeks made 30 but no one else reached 20 as Jonty Parsons (4-28) and Paul Hooper (3-29) bowled Bideford out for 117.
Kevin Murphy (53) and Ian Shepherd (54) both hit half-centuries as South Devon coasted to their third win of the season.
Kingsbridge ran out of steam chasing 203 to win against visiting Stoke Gabriel, who won at the Butts by 24 runs.
Doug Ansley smashed 64 and with chip ins from Paul Collings (48) and Angus Lee (20no) Stoke reached 202 all out. Dan Hardy took four for 51, then struck 50 not out in the unsuccessful run chase.
Lee (3-42). Jack Tolley (3-46) and R House (3-30) were the bowlers who did the damage for Stoke, who trail leaders Heathcoat by 17 points.
Tim Robinson pressed his case for a 1st XI recall with runs and wickets in Brixham’s drawn game with Abbotskerswell.
Robinson hit 79 not out and Wes Fowler made an unbeaten 50 in Brixham’s 180 for seven.
Andy Lock (37), Alex Birt (31) and Hayden Crocker (31) all got in and out again as Abbots lost ground on the chase.
Robinson capped a fine game with three wickets for 41 runs.
