Devon Cricket Board - Umpires agree 4.30 start

DEVON and Bedfordshire failed get play under way around 3.20 at Bovey Tracey today in their Minor Couties Trophy game.

Although the pitch was covered ovenight, rain seeped in and left a large moist patch on a good bowling length.

Bovey Tracey's ground staff were hard at work this morning mopping up in the hope of getting the game under way.

Umpires Steve Malone and John Attridge ordered an early lunch for 1pm and carried out a 1.30 inspection.
Although were was a shower soon afterwards, the sky cleared around 2pm.
If more than 60 minutes are lost then overs are deducted at the rate of one for every 4.2 minutes delay.
The umpires agreed to start at 3.20pm, but another shower scuppered that idea.
The last plan revealled by the umpires was to start at 4.30pm.
